saw this mob last night. well, for a bit. i left 25 mins in to their set. i am of the opinion that gratuitous flourishes of piano and fiddle doth not a brilliant band make but, granted, it increases the credibility of their sound by 37.6%, hoodwinking the listener in to thinking they're not a bad mob until you've distilled their sound down to rehashables over the course of 24 mins and 50 secs. i'm working on approximates here, give or take a minute. the support act was better. bittersweet punk lite scottish mob featuring a drumstick totting velvet vocalled female leading a pair of pubescents well able to crunch a good sound out of their respective geetars. they're called come on gang! exclamation mark included (i know, the shame).

oh no you don't. i wouldn't dismiss the fiddle for a second, karen. tis one of me favourite instruments, fiddle players are one of my weaknesses. in some bands, on some evenings, in some of my moods, overdoing it doesn't do it for me. you don't need to misinterpret my post to start a thread to pimp your mate. just blast the new thread button *insert tongue in cheek smilie here*

Bland isn't quuuuuiiiite the word I'd use. But then, I'm not so much in a diplomatic mood today. ;D To be honest, I don't know whether he lost me at 'Wisconsin' or his high school picture. *snort* But- fiddles? Yes! From trad to Warren Ellis, all good.

Ah yeah, tis hard to beat a good fiddle....har har
Declan O'Rourke has had a great fiddler playing alongside him the last few years - a German guy he met when busking in Oz. Really brilliant.
Then there's always me old mucker Sarah from Arcade Fire....mmm
