as cobbled together by the tastemakers at the irish times. and they would know alright wouldn't they. i enjoy the red mist storms that follow such publications. it brings out the goldfish syndrome in all of us. lists usually amount to facsimiles of lists that have gone before yet you'll still find folk huffing and puffing about the blatant disregard for dana's eponymous debut. call me old fashioned, but if it's a mechanism for venting frustration you're looking for, just stick a nail in their car tyre or a banana up their exhaust pipes, or (and this is novel method i'm pitching here for uptake) club together with similarly dissatisfied punters and take out a full one-page ad in the irish times and splash up your own definitive list. see their opinion and raise it a few fonts. or (and we may need to convene a meeting to hammer out the specifics of this) just club kevin courtney to death with 50 copies of the paper stuck together. you're absolutely right, that suggestion has little to do with his involvement in this exercise but his smugly delivered mediocre writing. but hey why waste an opportunity. www.ireland.com/theticket/articles/2008/0229/1204194975369.html

Yeah, always interesting to refresh one's memory as to some classics and learn about some you don't have....but the music press has gone list mad over the last few years, hasn't it?
All pretty harmless and obviously reflective of the contributors.

Kevin Courtney is a numpty. But that list is quite interesting. Quelle surprise - Loveless at No.1. Not sure I'd agree with that but some great albums in there all the same.
Think Mr Courtney had some heavy influence on this list which is probably why For The Birds is at No.33....

nice to see microdisney, the blades, and the mansions get a nod. some decent ones included. would've chucked a few, added in about 10, re-shuffled the running order of the rest and avoided relying on sinead o'connor as the token chick. would for the birds survive ? *dramatic cliffhanger music* heh heh

After having friends play their records endlessly through the 90s, and a 7 year relationship with a man obsessed, I'm ashamed to say I had no idea My Bloody Valentine were Irish.
