I had a really bizarre thing with them last week, whereby I had never heard of them, and then suddenly they were everywhere in the space of 24 hours. I saw them on Later with Jools (I think?) and they looked pretty good, but I've heard a few tracks since and it's not my cup of tea at all.

I'm having that now Katy... except it started with you! Then I saw Maria listening to them on last.fm. Then I noticed I have 3 of their songs because of the song-of-the-day-podcasts that I get. (my songs-of-the-day usually pile up for months before I go through and give them a good listen!) Anyway, interesting stuff, will have to listen to it more to decide if I like it!

I like em cos they're a bit different from the run of the mill overhyped indie bands. Love the afro beat sound to em, I think they could go far.

Enh... I thought they sounded like Dexy's Midnight Runners crossed w/ Paul Simon in the 80s, which does not rock enough for the name Vampire Weekend. If the name is supposed to be funny, it'd be more so if they were more the navel-gazing Damien Rice types.

They're one of those bands that everyone hears a different sound in I think. Some people think they sound like Arcade Fire...
