Line-up announced tomorrow - tickets on Friday: www.hotpress.com/news/4514923.html240 yo-yos per ticket, eh? That's fuckin' steep in anyone's language. Hard to know who they'll have on to justify that considering Oxygen has a decent line-up this year.

got the reduced priced ticktes last few years running. that two tier system is ridiculous. thought the weekend was worth the €200 overall. great music, comedy, atmosphere, crowd, high jinx. i hear franz ferdinand playing in the radio ad so they must have them lined up. wouldn't half mind toddling along.

Right Said Franz? Hmmm...dunno. Always hear good things about it. If there's a couple of cracking bands, I might give it a go then everything else is a bonus, I guess.

I've never seen them before, although I did see Stuart Staples solo in the Sugar Club (howzat for alliteration?) a few years ago. He was ace.

that's what i would call an aural aphrodisiac. they're a bunch of nearly-been-ats for me. see massive attack in there, too, they weren't bad year before last. promoters had the good sense to put em on after dark.

There's no real big draw for me there (put Mozzer at the top of that list and it's a different story) but I intend on going because it's just such great craic. There's some good bands there all right, The B-52s would be a deadly festival band, I'd say!

yeah! their collective age most be hitting the 500 mark. think of the potential booty shaking and them cartooning around on stage.

Interesting. Saw Underworld in '96. Wouldn't be my bag of chips usually but I really enjoyed them.
Portishead and Massive Attack? Yep. Could handle that. Mogwai would be interesting too...and George Clinton would probably get ye boppin'.

Kate Pierson is SIXTY next month. SIXTY. Mental. She looks great, the wench.
I think I'm the only person in Ireland not excited by MBV playing. A big shoulder shrug from me.
I'd like to see Sigur Ros again though, and Portishead would be up there too.

Nah, I don't totally get MBV either. Some excellent stuff on Loveless but it kinda goes over my head. Might come together live, though.
Tom Dunne more or less confirmed the Sex Pistols last night....and he also put a shout out to the promoters for Morrissey to be booked, funnily enough.

Yeah I saw that Michael, and I prefer that list to the one I posted!
I was apprehensive when I saw that Oxegen had such an amazing line-up, but it looks like EP could be just as good, if not better.

saw them before new order on the saturday night. after super furries. i was hanging around the front of the stage all day waiting for new order. fucking hell, best gig i was ever at. as you know, i'm one for being immobile, arm-folding my way through gigs but live sound and nostalgia collided to send me flying for the duration set. gig wounds. my first time *blushes*

having my first picnic dilemma. mates want to rent a self-catering cottage near by. they're rejecting the m*a*s*h experience and the hit from the fragrant early morning aroma wafting from the toilet area. they're bonkers.

Several of my mates have said the same thing, 'I don't waaaaaaaaaaaaanna camp this year!' I'm not a huge fan of camping myself but I don't have any mode of transport to/from a B&B or Naas, so it really depends on what they do..
I have no intention of abandoning ship this year comrade, last year was beyond my power unfortunately.. and it's funny you should say that about New Order, cos myself and two mates stood near the back of that gig and danced like fucking crazed lunatics for their whole set, hehehe. Ah, 2006 was bloody brilliant so it was.
Maybe I'm mistaken about BP.. I was pissed that night, so it's possible I couldn't tell which day was which. I do remember leaving one set of mates at Bloc Party to go and find another set at Belle and Sebastian, and fucking flying on my snot in the B&S tent. When my mates found me I was sitting outside, pissed and snivelling because I'd embarrassed myself so much. They laughed their arses off at me.

heh heh you'll appreciate this. y'know me mad mate margaret, in a dramatic reversal of roles, she stood bawling her eyes out for the entire set. got a few injuries from trying the concerned sign language manoeuvre mid leap. she'll be missed this year.

I'm thinking of going to this: admin.vfestival.com/index.html?pid=3413Amy McDonald, The Kaiser Chiefs, Stereophonics, Newton Faulkner, Duffy, Shed Seven, Sugarbabes, Ian Browne, The Feeling, Girls Aloud, The View, Scouting For Girls, The Charlatans and Travis. All in the same place at once. Just have to work out how to get the grenades past security.

Stay tooned. Tony Fenton's about to put us all out of our misery here with the full line-up...and the first caller to utter the phrase that pays - "I love the Fuck Buttons" - gets 2 free tickets....
...not really.
