Anyone else enjoying this? I've always felt that the fiddler was very important to the sometimes magical (in my opinion) Frames' sound. From what I hear, anyway, when listening to live shows and albums. So I couldn't resist ordering 'The Hare's Corner'. And I'm so glad I followed that impulse! I think it's beauuuuutiful!

In all honesty I sort of balked at the idea of buying this, feeling a bit cynical about Frames' musicians side projects but now I'm having second thoughts...
I saw him do a couple of solo tunes when he played in The Hague and they were outstanding so I might buy a copy meself.

It is of course very different from The Frames' music. But I expected it to be, and I like this kind of music. The only song of Colm's I had heard before was 'Waiting Room' (if I remember the title right?). Basically I love the violin (and the cello) and I like the mellow sound on this album. A couple of the songs are almost "haunting", in my opinion. If you want a taste, you can go to this site: www.theharescorner.com/and listen to some of the songs.

karen you spammer. on a colm mac con iomaire thread, too. c'mere till i beat you with an air tin whistle.
really looking forward to this album. good job you mentioned it, birch. i hadn't heard about it at all but had long hoped he'd get up off his boney arse and do something on his todd. there's something of the undernourished finn mccool about that man that warrants a 100th glance.

i know i know.
i hope they bring colm's cd over in september and sell it at the merch stand at the next nyc gig because i had to refrain from purchasing anything at the last swell season show! but a lot of other people were buying it and i think they sold out and had to print more already.

just order it on line, no?
never heard of patrick street by the way. thought it was a bogus outfit for a second. y'know ..those types who take notions and call themselves 'musicians'. it's so easily done. just like that. have to admire the confidence of folk who do it all the same heh heh.

maybe by sept. my financial situation will be more secure- i can't shop now, gotta conserve the dollars.
patrick street plays trad music mostly. funny tho that PCO cover was Patrick Street's biggest hit.
