Some interesting choices. Surprised to see Laura Marling in there, wouldn't be surprised if she scooped it actually, given their history of picking the one nobody expects. Adele though? Really? Does she even have more than one song?

I had a dream about Leo Sayer last night. In it, he was actually a dwarf. I was asking everyone "Was he always an actual dwarf? I thought he was just really short," and nobody seemed to know. He could move though, you should've seen him go.

lmao. Adele is fucking awful. All that "please let Amy Winehouse go to rehab indefinitely cos I want to be the only wannabe soul singer about" shit.
I think that Amy Winehouse was a bit of a one off in that department but then suddenly it's Duffy and Adele and even fricking Sharlene Spiteri now. It's just so boooooring. And I hate when Duffy sings live and does that stupid thing with her microphone. You still sound shit love.
Ahem anyway yes the Mercury Music Prize, I haven't really heard of a lot of those albums so I can't comment but I kinda like The Shadow Puppets. Not sure if they deserve to win though....

I can't stand Adele either, generally, but have to confess that I do like Hometown or whatever that song is. How cute is Alex Turner...

Portico Quartet have supported Tom Baxter loads of times. I always liked them but I am a little surprised they are nominated.

He's a talented bloke. Loved their first single but the rest of what I've heard is a bit samey.

So, we'll know soon enough. Anyone willing to stick their neck out and choose the winner?
OK, Plant and Krauss for me.
But it'll probably go to Alex Turner again. Or M People.

Elbow, eh? Like what I've heard of them but not sure they're my thing. They were very happy to win, though and seem like a nice bunch of fellas.

Ooh TC and Tina will be happy. Haven't really heard enough of them really to make a judgement.

Absolutely delighted that Elbow won - definitely one of the best, if not the best from that list. Did you see them talking to Lauren Laverne afterwards? They were all so pissed and giggly, heh heh

Yeah, that was funny. They remembered they'd a sweepstake among the band and one of them won the kitty, which Guy Garvey promptly fished out of his jacket pocket and handed over...haha! Lots of drunken kissing and hugging too. Good to see winners who thoroughly enjoy it and appreciate it.
