I have just got into the Martha Wainwright album, it is pretty fabulous, especially You Cheated Me and Bleeding All Over You. Listen here ... www.myspace.com/marthawainwrightBUT ... having listened to it a few times, all I can now think is that she reminds me so much of Maria McKee, when she was in Lone Justice. Does anyone remember Lone Justice?

I don't know Lone Justice or Maria McKee, and I haven't listened to any Martha Wainright... but, I am seeing MW open for KT Tunstall next week. I think I'll try to do some homework between now and then!!

I have the first Martha Wainwright album and like it quite a bit. Haven't made it to the 2nd one yet, though the one song I head on Letterman was really, really good.

it's a grower. She is very amusing live, too. Very dry and sarcastic.

Must check her out. All I know is I've seen her album cover and she's a nice set of pins.
That's all I got!

lol michael!
I loved her first album but I have to say I fell out of love with it quite quickly too, I dunno why. Must check out the second one though as I think she has the most fabulous voice. Seen her twice now the second time I was a bit more sober and she is incredibly striking live (and had those fabulous pins on show - they were pretty mesmerising I have to say). She was supporting Antony & The Johnsons the second time I saw her and she was amazing with just a guitar.
She kind of reminds me of a cross between Maggie Gyllenhaal and a far more talented acoustic Courtney Love.

I saw her supporting Josh Ritter at the Great Escape festival in a tiny venue in Brighton two years ago. She had to deal with some very drunk people in front of her and she was fantastic.

Ah, the second album is wonderful. Really, really gorgeous stuff - miles better than the first one.

She kind of reminds me of a cross between Maggie Gyllenhaal and a far more talented acoustic Courtney Love. Actually there's a movie Maggie Gyllenhaal is in, Happy Endings, where she sings, and she sounds a bit like a cross of Martha Wainwright and Jenny Lewis. It's nice.

Ah! Thank thee, Kez. She's got legs and she's knows how to use them...! A fine woman indeed.
