Anyone got this? Zooey Deschanel and M Ward album. Her tunes and him helping out.
Only given it one spin so far, but its quite good. Refreshingly so. There's a bit of Carole King, a wee bit of country and yet again more than a smidgeon of Spector-esque girl group about it.
This could grow on me.

It's on my ever growing list of things I have a good hunch about/been meaning to buy. Saw them on one of the late night shows a little while back and liked it a lot.

Yeah, I think you'd like it, Sara. She's not unlike Jenny Lewis at times. Good girl, Amy. Shoulda known you'd have your finger on the pulse...

I want to hear this. Again another review I saw in Uncut and I liked the sound of it. I think she's fab anyway so would be interested to hear this one. I'm imagining something kinda similar to Isobel Campbell and Mark Lanegan? Or am I totally wide of the mark....

Nah, it's mostly her, Kez. He sings a wee bit on one or two tunes but it's Zooey's baby pretty much. She's got a lovely voice, it has to be said.

I love this album too but then again I have a slightly scary obsession with Ms Deschanel

Wow, it's very different isn't it. But she has a really lovely voice. Not a conventional one at all but it really works doesn't it. I'm hearing a bit of June Carter in there as well.

Yeah, I thought Karen Carpenter at times as well. Not as good, obviously, but same ballpark.

Her voice keeps changing in each song. I do like it a lot though. Very quirky but she gets away with it.

It does, doesn't it? Still, like you say, it's enjoyable, Kez.
I was actually thinking the other night that the Beatles cover is probably the weakest of the bunch. Don't think it works slowed down like that. I prefer the original bouncing along and the happy harmonica bit.

I think it's actually not an original Beatles one, I think it might have been a girl group who did it first but I'm not sure who wrote it. Someone like those Phil Spector groups like The Crystals or The Ronettes. Or maybe none of them lol.
