Just noticed yesterday that Lucinda Williams is playing my neck of the woods for free on August 31st. There's a big outdoor food festival here and they always have a lot of music, and I guess she's the big name this time around.
She's not one I immediately think of, but I used to listen to her Car Wheels... album a lot around the time it came out. Hopefully Tyson will get the day off and we can go (and it won't be deathly hot).

free music and a food festival? Sounds like heaven!
Lucinda's great - I've never seen her live but her records always pull me in, even if I don't love the first listen.

Yeah the food itself has gone up in price and the crowds are just jam-packed, but going in the evening might be pretty good!

You MUST go, Sara. She's great. I'd love to see her. You Americans get all the luck.

I just realized it's the weekend my mom's coming to town, so that works out great. Well... my mom might file her under her wide diapproving net of "too much twang...." but she'll have grandchildren to distract her. It'll be fine.

Ah, a great show. Probably a few thousand people packed into that section of the park to see her. We were right near the front. She played a lot of new stuff, which I enjoyed quite a bit, and played a few I recognized. Grace danced and danced with pretty much everyone around us. Didn't take very many good photos, but here's my favorite of the bunch: There are a handful more here.
