Hehehe. I have to say I didn't take to the single.
I did have a weak spot for the last album though, Not the slow shit but the fast songs were pretty good.

No argument, the lyrics are DREADFUL.
Two weeks later like a surplus reprieve. I found a hair the length of yours on my sleeve, I wound it round and round my finger so tight. It turned to purple and a pulse formed in sight, And I knew the beat cause it marched your own beat. I still remember that from our chest to chest then feet to feet. The easy silence then was a sweet relief to this hush, Of oven airplanes and of distant car points.

Have to say, even very much liking Final Straw and Eyes Open (and having gone to see them live, on the back of Eyes Open), I haven't been impressed by the single at all. It's grown on me a bit, hearing it on the radio a few times, but isn't what I'd have expected from them. Not a band to listen to for lyrics, agreed, but for anthemic-type up beat tracks and some quite nice slower numbers, they ain't all that bad C'mon people............they don't all have to be earth-shattering genius!

Eyes Open was enjoyable music, concert was fun, but nothing special (though i did real life meet Ana there!). Look forward to obtaining the new one when the price is lower

"zzzzzzZZZZZZZzzzzZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzZZZZzzzz..." I'm sorry- who were we talking about? I gotta be honest... I gave that last album a go maybe 6 or 7 times and... nothing. Not so much as a heart murmur to be found. *snooze* Not bad per se, just- 'meh'.

I quite liked Eyes Open for the rockier tracks. Could well do without Chasing Cars and the other slow ones, they do nothing for me at all. Hands Open was great as was You're All I Have and if they were playing live I'd probably go and see them but yeah dunno about this new single...

speaking of coldplay, has anyone heard lisa hannigan's butchering of diana ross's upside down. there's a time and a place for all that whispering heavy breathing winsome routine. under the mirrorball down disco getting vertigo whilst hanging precariously off your platforms is not one of them. slay the bitch! *swashbuckles across thread*

Yeah the breathy thing does get annoying.
I actually quite liked that Lille demo off her album cos she sang quite normally. Quite curious about her album actually. But that supposed husky sexy stuff just sounds like she's trying to sing and have a shite at the same time.

Lisa's debut album is ... pleasant. I know I'm damning with faint praise there, but she just plays it a little too safe. There aren't any of those goosebump inducing high notes that made the Rice/Hannigan songs so unique.

Hands Open was the finale at the concert we went to and the crowd went OFF. They really were very good live, I have to say. The more up tempo tracks are actually very good for the gym, I have vague recollection.......... Small venue (Melbourne's Federation Hall), hot Summer night, lots of sweaty people singing and dancing away and lots of interaction from Mr Chocbody. It was a really good night Must have a listen to Lisa's new CD. I love her sound when she's singing with DR and on The Cake Sale but I do hear what everyone's saying about the breathy thing..........can be a touch of overkill and just get plain annoying.

Had the misfortune to hear Leona Lewis's version of Run on the radio this morning. It was so bad I had to keep listening to it just to check I was right (I was...yes, it's awful *big chorus* yep, still awful) and marvel at its general awfulness.
Did I mention it was awful?

speaking of keane, heard lisa hannigan's new choon earlier. all fancy orchestral sweeps with a brush thick with strings. she'd be nothing without the tcd music graduates. tack the sophisticated and pursed lips of any half-decent orchestra on to the back of my warbling in the shower and i tell you, there'd be a dive for the diall too. go away and sew cakes and knit courgettes woman and give my head peace.
