So I'd say we nearly have a message board meet up? macca needs to come over! guess now might not be the best time to ask him though I've a few mates coming over from Ireland for it as well so should be a good old knees up. I'm not that bothered about the two support acts really, think the first band is on at about 1.45pm.

I still don't get it. Is it not just all a bit cock rock, or am I missing something completely?

Noooo! Not at all. Get the whole Born in The USA image out of your head. You'd want to start with Nebraska Katy really. Very mellow and acoustic guitar based. His songs are really well written it really casts a light on that smalltown American bleakness and isolation. Writes a lot about his childhood and growing up in desolate towns.
My favourite album is Darkness On The Edge of Town I think. A lot of his songs are about cars and girls but there's a deep underlying sadness throughout a lot of his stuff. Hard to describe well but if you look a lot closer at his lyrics there's a lot more going on there. He writes a lot about the difficult relationship he had with his father as well.
This is one of the ones that Mr Gray covered but don't let it ruin it for you. Lovely lyrics:
My Father's House
Last night I dreamed that I was a child out where the pines grow wild and tall I was trying to make it home through the forest before the darkness falls
I heard the wind rustling through the trees and ghostly voices rose from the fields I ran with my heart pounding down that broken path With the devil snappin' at my heels
I broke through the trees, and there in the night My father's house stood shining hard and bright the branches and brambles tore my clothes and scratched my arms But I ran till I fell, shaking in his arms
I awoke and I imagined the hard things that pulled us apart Will never again, sir, tear us from each other's hearts I got dressed, and to that house I did ride from out on the road, I could see its windows shining in light
I walked up the steps and stood on the porch a woman I didn't recognize came and spoke to me through a chained door I told her my story, and who I'd come for She said "I'm sorry, son, but no one by that name lives here anymore"
My father's house shines hard and bright it stands like a beacon calling me in the night Calling and calling, so cold and alone Shining 'cross this dark highway where our sins lie unatoned
I love him anyway he's fab.

Just looking at my ticket (just realised it is a print out ticket - I was wondering when they'd come through the door!) and doors are at 12.45, first act on at 13.45. My dilemma is this: Not all that bothered about the support acts. but worried we won't get a good spot for Bruce. Dyou reckon we go to a pub for one of the supports (can't remember who the first lot are) and then make it for the end of the Dave Matthews set and try and get a good spot then? I get all antsy about these big gigs cos if you get a crap spot at a big gig you're inevitably ended up behind the big fat sunburnt pissed bloke and all his big fat mates who are roaring through every song and staggering about. Half pub half DMB? We don't have to pay any attention to him we can just stand at our lovely spot and drink our smuggled in vodka

support is James Morrison, Dave Matthews, and prob some other less known acts earlier on I would have thought. I'm thinking the same, not really fussed about spending all day there, but would like a good spot. actually wouldn't mind seeing James Morrison, but not at all bothered about Dave Matthews. Why couldn't they be on the other way round?!

I had to pass the tickets on to JP as gf couldn't get a brat-sitter. Cost us the train tickets as non-refundable, so not exactly HP. Had the weekend all planned out and would have loved to meet up for a few beers.

I would be up for that, even with my gigantic bump and lack of drinking capacity.
