eurgh, not sure about SBE for them. They seemed to struggle the last time they played there.

Really? erk.
It's a sit down gig as well. Maybe that'll make it better. Was surprised they chose Sheperd's Bush Empire actually.
Not sure I'll go actually. Seen em twice in the last year and all it does is make me pine for a really good Frames gig.

lol!
Yeah i'm finding it difficult to work up any enthusiasm for this. Me and DFW went and saw them at the albert hall last year and although it's an amazing venue I just don't think they were up to it. It needed a big fuppin rock out frames really not everyone sitting around someone's living room having a late night jam. Bit underwhelmed.

i keep wondering if the new album will be depressing, seeing as they are not romantically involved anymore.

I think it's probably a given that it'll be depressing, either way

A friend has heard most of, if not the whole album already. He says it's great. Different from the first album. But he has a slightly biased view of it.

Is your friend Glen Hansard? Lol. Not since the restraining order was placed on me. I mean him. Hard to have a conversation with someone when you can't get within 50 yards of them without being arrested and are banned legally from using a megaphone.

Just back from the Swell Season gig. very enjoyable, but as Kez said earlier it really makes you yearn for a Frames gig, especially since the Swell Season are now essentially the Frames plus Marketa. Got a few new songs, quite a few off the Swell Season album, plus Buzzin Fly, Heyday, Fitzcarraldo and Say it To Me Now. Glen was essentially curfewed off stage, and it had the vibe of an old Frames gig, probably because it was the first night of the tour and they aren't road weary yet.

Just reading the revies on the Frames board. Sounded good alright but the security sounded quite tough!

Yeah. The ushers in the Forum are jobsworths. If they see anyone with a camea they shine torches in the lens, which acualy seems to be more distracting than the flashes going off. During Red Chord one of them was hassling someone in the front row who was directly in front of Glen who was doing his unplugged thing. Without actually saying anything Glen made the usher feel like enough of a jobsworth that he scurried off and Glen hunkered down on the stage to get a photo along with the poor guy that was being hassled. I think the three months off the road has been good for the band. The whole gig had that looseness and playfulness that had been missing the last couple of times I've seen them. But it does make you itch for a proper Frames gig.
And Lisa Hannigan is bloody irritating to watch. I've no problem with her music, which is pleasant enough, and she is easy on the eye to say the least, but that fey and winsome act is wearing thin.

That's why I find it so difficult to go to those gigs now. You want someone to jump up, kick back a stool, pull out an electric guitar, knock Marketa off the piano and bang out the opening chords to Revelate.
That guy was posting on the frames board today actually. He met glen after the gig and got another photo as well.
As for Lisa, I've actually gotten quite fond of her album. Sliiiightly irritating live with that weird juddery dance, eyes squeezed tightly in earnestness thing that is supposed to be quite endearing and kooky but is just a bit "just fuckin sing it".
