saw flight recently - awesome! prolly one of my favorite movies, one of those (like descendants) where you think wow this is really depressing, but done so well that it stays with you for days. denzel is so good and i love that his character's problems (and he's got alot of them) had NOTHING to do with race, or his accomplishments. it's just him.
saw lincoln and i thought it was so-so. everyone loved it and daniel day lewis was good, so was sally field but i had read so much before about it that i was pretty underwhelmed.
cannot wait for this is 40, judd apatow and crew. looks awesome. that blond woman who is in all his movies (leslie mann) is his wife in real life. and paul rudd and jason segal - love them. all judd's movies are so quirky and real. his children are in this one too. he also direct/produces girls with leah dunhan. another real, honest and funny series.
unfortunately, most of these good shows don't come out until Christmas or january. nothing really to see right now.

saw this is 40 last night. loved it! went with my husband and boys and joey and I were laughing so hard through the whole thing. lots of cameos, plus some new people that weren't in knocked up (it's sort of the continuation of leslie mann and paul rudds marriage). Chris O'Dowd and Melissa McCarthy were in it, also Leah Dunham from Girls. good stuff.
Leslie Mann is really a comic genius, very understated but she carries the movie.

I want to see Midnight's Children, just so I don't have to read the book (it's been sitting on my shelf for 7 years now with the bookmark between pages 20 and 21).

Everybody go see Les Miserables! I haven't loved anything so much in a long time. It's BIG, and just awesome.

Is it really good? I've been too scared to go in case it's anything like Moulin Rouge. I'm not sure about those actors singing. Aren't they a bit shit?

I think the songs let them down a bit, to be honest! I've never watched the musical, hate them generally. But the live singing in the movie is really impressive. And I can't stress enough how BIG it is. It's this ridiculously overblown monster of a movie, too over the top to even make fun of it. Could go wrong for many, but I loved it. (Then again it was the first time I watched a movie in the cinema in 2 years, it might have just been the joy of being out of the house.)

I think that apart from Russell Crowe all of the actors did a great job sight the singing. My only criticism is the rather weedy obligatory new song crowbarred in just so they can get an Oscar nomination. I don't think it stands up next to the rest of the score at all. It sounds like a late-80s/early-90s Neil Diamond effort (and believe it or not, I'm a fan) but didnt sit right with me. I finally got round to watching This is 40, and I laughed my arse of all the way through. Nice surprise to get a bit of 'Paradise' on the car stereo in one scene as well
