Bloody hell Courtney that must be really frightening. Glad he's on the mend now.
I bet DFW on friday for lunch then drinks after work for a couple of hours. We had a good old natter and on Saturday I went to Arsenal v. Sunderland and watched them eke out a miserable 0-0 result. Should have won it. Shoulda Woulda Coulda. Atmosphere after the game was just dead in the pub so we all decided to go and eat. Had an amazing curry. I dunno if it was because I was starving or what but it was bloody lovely.
Sunday I watched the start of Series 2 of Mad Men and curled up on the sofa.

I went to a spa and wellness resort with the girls from work on saturday, it... was... BRILLIANT. I've never had a facial before, oh my god it is lovely. 75 minutes of pure bliss. And we started out in the spa bath with champagne - at 10 in the morning, lol. Mmm morning champaaaagne. Every saturday should be spent like that.
Mostly just relaxed on sunday, although I did try my newest purchase: the powerhoop. Either I'm not using it right or it's just plain evil. All the bruises around my waist makes me look like I've been attacked by midgets.

oh, that sounds great, hen. i actually like a facial better than a massage, somehow it seems more indulgent. i have one i just got on groupon, gotta set up an appt.
what's the power hoop? a weighted hula hoop? i've used those and never had bruises. great workout.

Thanks everyone. He is doing much better. It was so scary but it is over. I know he gets so frustrated with himself, his body, life when he gets that way though. His immune system is so delicate now he catches anything that is going around and it really affects him. I will await the next weekend thread for something more exciting.

what's the power hoop? a weighted hula hoop? i've used those and never had bruises. great workout. Yeah a weighted hula hoop (1.7 kgs) - but it's not 'smooth' like a normal hula hoop, it has these 'bumps' around it which I'm guessing is what gives me the huge bruises. A girl from work is using it too, she said it did hurt the first couple of days but she didn't get any bruises either. I'm just lucky like that, I suppose. Well, I'm giving it about a month and if I'm still getting bruises I'll just give it away to whoever would like to give it a go.

and what is it supposed to do? Just general weight loss or shape your abs?

Post by henriette on Mar 8, 2011 7:29:37 GMT -1
Yeah it gives your abs a good workout, I can definitely feel the effect. Supposed to take inches off your waist and just generally be a fun way to workout... which it would be if it wasn't for the bruising and pain.

What's everyone doing this fine sunny weekend (if it's sunny round your way that is)?
I'm off to Wemberly tomorrow to cheer on Engerland. Will be a good chance to go and see a footballing event that you have a cat in hell's chance of getting a ticket for and don't have to sell your body parts to be able to afford. Sposed to be nice n sunny tomorrow as well so watch out for my sunburnt face on the box shouting "spit on me Walcott!!!!" or something. The rest of the weekend will mostly be spent waiting in for bedroom furniture.
By the way, never order anything from Dreams, absolute comedy shop they are. They have rung Rob no less than 5 times telling him that the furniture is going to be delivered the same day despite the fact we have already agreed that they come on Saturday between 9-12. I'm currently composing a letter which involves the phrase "It is ironic that your company is called Dreams when dealing with you has turned out to be a nightmare". Bet that's not the first time they've heard that one either.

We're having the mother-in-law for the third weekend in a row (so far my brother-in-law was off during weekdays, so she didn't spend any time here when Rob was at work, but I'm afraid if she stays ANY LONGER I will have to spend a few days in silence with her around the house, wahhhhh.) Anyway, since our car's fixed, we'll go to Tatton Park tomorrow and Bodnant Gardens on Sunday. Lovely touristy garden stuff.
But, seriously? When will the woman book her return ticket???! If she's still here when Lizzy's birthday comes around, I will have a hissy fit. And i'm not a hissy fit person. So it will be bad.

I'm seriously hankering for a Damien Demspey gig. Haven't seen him since about 6 years ago on Paddy's Day of all days doing a late night gig at in the Opera House in Cork. It was carnage but in a great way. Dancing in the aisles and drink literally flying everywhere. He can belt out a tune that man.

I spent all day in bed today, finally pulled the brake, one minute longer and the stress would've put me into early labour. Planning to do more resting this weekend, only I need to go into town to get Lizzy's party sorted and buy presents for friends at home... Bah.

I never post on these threads usually but this weekend / next week should be pretty ace. Fin is going to Majorca with his dad tomorrow for a week, so me and the man have both taken the week off work to hang out and do stuff together. We're both completely broke unfortunately but who cares about that. A whole week without either of us having to go home for any reason, think about kids, or get up for work, etc. We're planning a camping trip for a night or two, Bright Eyes gig on Wednesday, a mate's gig Saturday... then generally loads of late nights and long mornings - hell, afternoons, in bed. Bring it the mofo on.

A full week of that sounds like paradise.
My plans... Not so heavenly, but all right. My mom's taking me shopping for my birthday (which is Tuesday) tomorrow rather than guess at things for me. I work on Sunday, but I'm used to that. The mister works a lot because he's taking a long weekend next week to go out of town.
I have a friend in town and I may do something with him at some point while he's here. He tagged along with me taking the kids to see Cars 2 today because he saw the first one with his niece and nephew but with this one didn't "want to be the guy buying 1 ticket to a kids' movie." His taste in movies is sort of adorably embarrassing.
(The movie was just all right. Not Pixar's finest work, but certainly better than a lot of kids' movies out there.)
Hmmm what else. I'm woefully behind on book review writing, so I need to catch up with that too.

I'm. So. Fat. And out of breath. I'm in Germany now, and the weather is awesome. It rains pretty much every night, but as soon as the sun is out in the morninmgs, it gets up to 30 degrees. I haven't been this tanned in ages, and although it's hard moving an extra 9 kilos around, I'm loving it. Lizzy is enjoying herself in the garden, we've got a swing, a sand box and a paddling pool and she's in heaven. We still have the odd tantrum, but she sleeps better and is brighter during the day. Another week at my parents, with my big sister, who's the BEST BABYSITTER EVER, then off to the holiday cottage with my parents, then Poland with Rob. We won't be back in England until early August, by which time an actual paid translation gig will be waiting for me. Also, I'm now really looking forward to the baby. Life is good

Glad yer feeling better Ms Karo. Hope you had a good birthday shop Sara What's everyone doing for this one? I'm going out with Rob and his bestest mate in the whole world and his wife for dinner tomorrow night. Have never met them before as they've been busy with a newborn baby but am friends with the wife on Facebook and so tomorrow we meet! No idea WHAT to wear and hate eating in front of people I don't know so will be having a couple of voddies beforehand methinks Sunday Rob's parents are coming round to look at the flat now we've furnished it so a seeeerious tidy up is needed. His mum is really sound and his dad is good craic so not so worried about that really.

Kez - Yeah I got a few shirts and two new pairs of sandals, so that was nice. A black skirt that's not too formal looking. I'm not too much into skirts, but if the mood strikes me, this one's good for about anything.
This weekend so far has been just hanging around at home. Tyson was out of town over night playing in a table tennis tournament (he made the semi-finals, despite having not played in 9 years!).
Basically I've been fighting with the kids to clean their rooms. It finally happened, more or less, today after days of battle. I'm not picky. I just want to be able to walk across the room, and you couldn't. Lord knows my room isn't in any great shape.
Tomorrow, I'm not sure what we're up to. I have some time off from work until Weds. and Tyson doesn't go back until Tuesday, so really we have an extended weekend around here.

Serious post-holiday blues round mine. The boy is back from Majorca, brown as a berry and noticeably chubbier after eating cake every day for breakfast at the hotel ("2 donuts, a muffin, a pain au chocolate..."), he had a great time. My week was brilliant as well, had a lavverly time camping in Morecambe, walking round Ingleton Falls in the dales, then we did the lake district as well... Windermere, Ambleside, Hawkshead, Coniston, Kendal, Kewick, Casterigg stone circle... yep, we crammed a lot in. Even visited the pencil museum and saw the world's largest pencil. Now I just have one more week at work to get through before the school holidays and 6 weeks off. Yep. You hate me. I know it.
