fell down, hard, last night! Landed on my knees, one of which is bloodied. I got up off the sofa and turned to pet Coochie, the cat, who was on the arm of the sofa. The next thing I know I am tumbling over! I also hurt my ring finger on my left hand. Well I got up and made my way over to the kitchen counter to get my bedtime meds. But I felt dizzy. My ma got a chair for me to sit on. Then I was clammy all over so she got a wet paper towel to wipe my brow and my arms. We decided I should skip the meds since they'd probably make me throw up. Well I ended up being sick anyway ( from both ends if you get my drift!). Eventually I went upstairs to bed. And today I feel better except for the bruised knees and sore finger. But my ma said there's no way I can go back to NYC if his keeps happening. I hadn't had a fall in about a month so I was surprised when this happened. My ma thinks it was because I was overtired, it was after midnight . We had been glued to CNN watching the news. Usually I don't stay up that late. But I wonder if I would have gotten sick anyway, if I hadn't fallen? Anyway it's depressing to feel so out of control!

Karen your Ma is right you prob should stay with her till you are not having any dizzy spells. Nothing worse than being really ill and nobody to look after you. Hope you are feeling a lot better soon x

Thanks guys. I feel better today, she did yell at me earlier about spending too much time on my iPad. (ha!) but then she felt bad and apologized.I think what happened last night freaked her out as much as it did me! On another note why is it the last couple of times I have gotten sick, we had dinner at my sister's house ?

ouch, Karen, hope you're feeling better. Maybe you've developed a food allergy? One of my aunts has rather suddenly become allergic to shrimp, which is one of the things we always have at family gatherings. Much like you described, she becomes ill almost instantly and it shows itself in all possible ways.

Hmm I don't think it's a food allergy but once I did get served a bad piece of fish and I got really dizzy from that! The room was spinning and I had to hang onto the wall to keep myself from falling .

yikes Karen, that sucks. I can imagine you are ready to get back to NY- to feel independent but also get back to your happenin' life. But it is good to be there with someone to look out for you. Are they giving you trouble about the disability checks?

No word yet from social security Courtney. The other day we went to Scarlett's school for tha annual hat parade. As I was leaving, walking down a hallway, a dad stopped me to ask me if I had parkinsons. He has it and he noticed my left hand. I explained that the hypoxic brain injury left me with parkinsonian symptoms. So much for feeling like I look somewhat normal when I am out on public! We compared meds, and he takes a few of the same ones that I take.
I hope my walking looks normal. I know when I go out to walk my mile around the neighborhood,my feet shuffle a little but I am working on that.

. Oops I did it AGAIN ... Fell, that is! More like tripped getting out of my sisters pool. Scraped my leg pretty badly on the slate stones. I am afraid when we go to Hilton Head in July, my mom won't let me ride a bike! That is the main mode of transportation down there. And it's lots of fun! My brother in law has a tandem but I feel like it will be more difficult to be on the back of a tandem than to just ride on my own. Anyway I am friggin tired of falling down!

Oh huh. Take it slow, give your body time to heal.
