Bloody hell I'd say many relationships go through many tests but I think the proof of a the strength of a relationship is if you surive the IKEA test. I've never known a shop to be so fantastic yet so fucking frustrating. I don't know the rules, I don't know where I'm supposed to walk. There was a dangerous moment when we got stuck in a never ending loop of the Lighting section because we kept following the arrows that went round in circles. I saw some bloke getting a right telling off from his wife to which he eventually retorted "Don't talk to me like I'm a 5 YEAR OLD!" while his kids sat by looking really embarrassed. This is our 3rd, yes 3rd attempt at getting round Ikea. The first one ended in an argment over a wooden coffee table painted white. I wanted it, he didn't. We stopped at the restauarant bit and gave up, bought a bag of Dimes and went home. The second one was slightly better. We made it round the whole entire shop but towards the end it was turning into a maze of tunnels and vast caves like something out of The Goonies. Towards the last 100 yards Rob was grabbing my hand and running dodging trollies and hyperventilating going "I have to get out of here where's the door WHERE'S THE DOOR!" This time we made it round the whole thing in its entirety but we found the bookshelves we wanted didn't fit in the car so we decided to get them home delivered but when we got to the checkout we were told we had to bring the actual bookshelves with us then take them to the home delivery section and get them sent from there. At that point wildhorses couldn't drag us back to the collection point where husbands were being berated by their wives and vice versa and children were screaming while other kids were jumping on and off beds so we gave up and went home. Then we had to push the trolley over to the other car park as we hadn't been able to park in the Ikea one as it was too big only to find we can't take the trollies out of the car park. So I had to stand in the rain forlornly clutching a £2.99 red cushion and some paper lights, a wire bathroom stand and a washing basket while Rob went and got the car and drove it round. Never again I tells thee. Although we might have to go back to collect our Benny bookshelves or whatever they're called cos they don't home deliver

LOL yeah I don't think I've ever been to Ikea with a man and not had a row. It's a pain in the arse. If it wasn't for the mini Daim bars I wouldn't bother with it, although I have to say I've had some nice bits out of there, my massive shelving thing with the sliding glass doors is from there and I love it, and I've had the wardrobes in my bedroom for about 15 years from there and they still look alright (although I'd quite like new ones now).

God thise mini dime bars are sinful. Sinful I tells ya. You get to a point where you just want to stick your head in the bag and tear the wrappers off with your teeth. Ahem. Anyway.
Yeah we have a bit of a DVD storage problem. We've not got loads of space in the flat yet there are about a good 200 DVDs to be stored away. Found a bookcase for £50 in there and another DVD case that has a little glass door you can fit onto it if you want (think it sounds like the one you have).
It's amazing the stuff you end up picking up though. A bean bag tray support thing for your laptop for a tenner. I never realised I needed one till I bought one!

Maybe it's time to get rid of the hard copy DVDs and stick all the films etc. onto a media storage thingy that can hook up to the telly...I used to be murder for buying books and DVDs but I found that once read/watched I'd hardly ever look at them again (except in some circumstances) so now I just go to the library, borrow books and get my bro to stick films and box sets on my media box...saves a fortune and also saves on space.
ps loving the Daim bars...seriously they are so addictive!

Best for the bloke to just say NOTHING, then get the cash out at the appropriate time. Save a whole bucketload of aggro! lol

Men are genetically programmed to hate IKEA. I wonder if it was really a woman who founded it after all. I hate it too though, especially because we can NEVER find the markethall bit with the candles in it, and because it's NO FUN with a potty-training child. Those toilets are really very hard to find!!! Free breakfasts are awesome though, it has to be said.

Yeah see I hate it but I love it. And free breakfasts! Really? ;D They sneakily put the market hall bit right in the middle so you have to trudge through every other bloody section before you get to it. I was looking for picture frames last weekend and it was the very very last hall before all the flatpack furniture collection bit

I refuse to go to Ikea with Ben anymore. I make him go at 945pm right before they close so he doesn't get stressed out! I love the meatballs and the pies though, I could eat lunch there every day!

The last item bought there is still laying on my apartment floor, unassembled! It's a file cabinet thingy on wheels, matches my desk. It was too heavy for me to carry up two flights of stairs to my apartment so I opened the box and dragged up the pieces individually .. And I didn't put it together for a week, then my health incident happened, so it never got built'

Bummer, they no longer have my desk! I was gonna post a link . It's magenta colored with a white pull out keyboard shelf, and it's on wheels. The cabinet I got is also on wheels. I got in the light birch color with white drawer fronts. The desk came in many colors as well as light birch. I have the Jules chair in green. Not comfy for long periods of time! I put a black & white cushion on it. I love the desk though, it has a shelf on the bottom for the CPU. It's small enough to fit anywhere. It came in green, purple, red, magenta, dark wood, light wood, and white. I remember that day deciding for the longest time whether to get the purple one or the magenta ( fuscia) one. The purple one reminded me of grape jelly.

Been to IKEA many a time with himself and its always been a nice experience. That said we're not kitting out a place together or anything but when the time comes I'm just going to hand over control of that to him and focus on the lovely cake we'll have once the shopping is over

They definitely yhave some funky stuff in there Karen, shame they don't have it anymore! I find that sometimes, they run out of things or no longer do things after a while.
lol macca, those cakes are pretty tempting and all the food they bombard you with at the checkouts. My god.
I was ordered to Ikea on Sunday to go and collect the bed for the spare room in time for your arrival macca. It's a bit girly so sorry about that! I blame tiredness. I'll try and put up some Arsenal posters and stuff to make it a bit more blokey ;D

Well there are 24 cans of Fosters in there, about a million DVDs an ensuite and I have an Arsenal calendar which I'll get Rob to put up. He is Mr DIY at the moment. I would've given it a go but it was easier to let him get on with it. That's my excuse anyway

Ha. We had a rainy day on our holidays last week and spent it in Ikea (without Rob, obviously, although I have to say I was surprised my dad lasted that long ) Lizzy LOVED it. She spent hours in the kids' show rooms, got some pots and pans for her toy kitchen and the obligatory cuddly toys. She was showing my mum the Ikea catalogue the other day, saying "I want to go back there!"

my other half, gareth, loves ikea. i have to beg him sometimes not to do the showroom.
i prefer the marketplace, love the kitchen gadgets.
they don't do the daim chocolates anymore at the mk store, they have their own brand. love the ginger biscuits and smoked salmon paste too. oh and in the restaurant they have really great chocolate muffins with a runny choc centre.
