Ah that's a shame, neon. I'm sure they'll be back though. I'm planning on doing the whole band tour next time they're over.

Wow! Gwan the Katy! Their album got a great write up in Uncut as well. Must give em a listen. Says they sound kinda like The Band which got me interested as well.

Aye, they do a bit. I've only got the eponymous one just yet but it's good alright. Well worth the investment. A lot more subdued than the live experience but good still.

i was just invited to a party where they are playing a private gig but i turned down the invitation. its the same place where i saw foy vance. its a little too far away. last time i went i didn't realize how far it was til i was actually driving there ! and now gas is a lot more expensive... i am sure i will regret not going when my friends tell me how great it was.

Can I just say again how much I love this album. Am home for a few days and things have been a bit shit but putting on Love Me Tenderly, Don't Wake The Scarecrow and Helen Fry and all the rest have been making my days way more uplifting. You know when you listen to an album and you absolutely get it first time. Think this may be my album of the year. I quite like it in other words

Kez, it's amazing isn't it? Don't Wake the Scarecrow was my initial favourite, but then there's Frankie's Gun, Take This Bread (love the random gunfire shots in the background), Whiskey in my Whiskey, Wonderful Life, Radio Song...
The first album (Tonight at the Arizona) is just as good. Hey Hey Revolver is probably my favourite FB song if I was forced to pick.
I was saying the other day it's up there with Wide Awake as a contender for the best record of the past 5 years for me.

Ah yeah Take This Bread is great too! It sounds like they went up to some log cabin in the mountains with a load of Jack Daniels and just had a great big music session. Just lovely and unique and I love the all over the placeness of it, you sort of feel that that is how music should be not neat chords and a catchy chorus. Will look out Tonight At The Arizona as well

ahhh, so you were right, katy....there is a big old thread about them. i gotta start reading music more. yeah, i love them, i've been listening to them nonstop......remind me of dylan, maybe a little bit of whiskeytown and a little touch of wilco. their songs keep playing about in my head. just looked at their concert list, they're playing somewhere called 'rutland, ohio', never heard of it, but i'm betting it's down near w. viginia. good stuff.

You MUST go, mkk. They're incredible live. I'd move heaven and earth to go see them again if they come back and play in the UK.

yeah, i'm kind of struggling with this......the festival is about 20 minutes away from my son's college. he's in an apartment so i could easily stay there....but he's 4 hours away from me, and it's my anniversary. my hubby already told me that we have reservations for the couples massage thing, etc.
but how cool would it be, college town, nice weather. the downside is......i really don't think my son and his friends (and the girlfriend) want to hang with his 49 year old mother. there will most certainly be pot smoking and there are all kinds of moral things going on with that.
ugh. i gotta find them somewhere else....

saw them last night in a little venue that holds about 400 (i think). wonderful, awesome concert. they were constantly moving, the acoustics were great. this is the guy that played the washboard for us, on the left, farley: nice little beefcake and he filled out those wranglers nicely. now i'm bummed that i didn't go see them when they were in southern ohio because i don't know when they'll be back out, but i will most certainly go. the guy that opened up was pretty good too, justin townes earle, i think. sheila and i were going to buy his cd after the felice brothers, but he was gone good stuff, people, katyr you were right GO SEE THEM

Spotter fact. Justin townes Earle is (as far as i know) Steve Earle's son from some of his marriages. Pretty good.
