He seemed to be giving out to someone in the audience at the Dublin show at one point and Neal had to have a word with him and remind him to, er, play the bass.

Really? hahaha. He comes across as a bit of a character actually.
Saw Ryan frantically signalling to the guitar technician during one of Neal's songs. Eh no Ryan it s not your guitar, Neal's songs just make it sound shite.
Hand on heart though I thought he was ok,his songs weren't awful and I'd half think of seeing him solo if I didn't have anything else to do and um if every other band in the world had been wiped out by a freak accident of musical nature.

Have you ever seen Neal Casal solo, kez? Sweet Jesus, trust me it's like a long afternoon at the dentists. Or a trip round Tesco.
Weirdly enough I made exactly the same Spinal Tap comment during Cobwebs and said they should've come out of those perspex chrysalis things.

Ooooh spooky. Maybe I'll give his gig a miss then.
Southampton was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better, really really enjoyed it. No encore which was a bit odd but Ryan had to stop after a couple of songs and gargle salt water so I'm thinking his throat has taken a bit of a hammering on this tour.
The set list was: Cobwebs Everybody Knows Born Into A Light Please Do Not Let Me Go Fix It Natural Ghost Goodnight Rose Off Broadway Wonderwall Sink Ships Stars Go Blue Come Pick Me Up Why Do They Leave I Taught Myself How To Grow Old Freeway To The Canyon
Evergreen Cold Roses Like Yesterday Shakedown on 9th Street Rescue Blues Stop Grand Island Let It Ride
Bit more banter this time. Some people at the back were yelling shit in between songs and he eventually stopped and said "OK we'll take a couple of minutes to get this shit out of the way" and some wag at the back made the Summer of 69 joke and he looked slightly bemused. Apparently there is some guy following the tour around and making loads of noise each night. At least I'm not the worst then.
Natural Ghost was lovely last night and Off Broadway really stood out too. Wouldn't mind getting a bootleg of one of the gigs from this tour. Goodnight Rose once again blew me away. I love I Taught Myself How to Grow Old both nights they played it but when you listen to it on the CD it really doesn't come across as well.
As he walked out with the harmonica to play Come Pick Me Up someone yelled out "COME PICK ME UP!" and he paused and said "actually we don't do requests" and they played Sink Ships instead lol! They did play it later though.
An interesting crowd last night. Two girls in front of me who looked exactly like one of those women from the Manson Family, you know with the long parted in the middle hair and weird hippy dresses and strange hypnotic look on their faces. One of them looked like she was being electrocuted when they played Shakedown on 9th Street.

Shakedown on 9th Street! They played that in Manchester a few years back, it was incredible.
I didn't realise that was last night kez, thought it was tomorrow for some reason. Sounds like a good gig, great set again. Nice one.

Yeah it sounded great, nice to go properly rawk, the crowd went wild.
God I feel like I'm 7 and christmas is over and I'm all pissed off I have to wait another year for the next one.

I got Shakedown too, the night I went. Love that one. Though my cat is named Lucy, so it makes me laugh too.

Does anyone know anything about his book he's supposed to be publishing? Infinity Blues? Is it going to be like a John Lennon style collection of bizarre stories? Or ramblings and poetry?

It's a book of his "poetry". It's going to suck, definitely.

Oh dear. Yes I think I've seen some examples of his "poetry" on the Cardinals page and if that's anything to go by then he's in trouble.

Devastating news girls: I'm praying it's not true, but I've just read in several different places that Ryan and Mandy Moore are engaged. That dirty, cheating bastard. He's sleeping on the sofa tonight.

I'm so behind. When did Ryan announce he was disbanding the Cardinals and quitting music for a while? And that he has meniere's disease? I knew he was losing his hearing, I didn't know why though. Fuck. I can't believe no more Cardinals gigs.

that was a couple of weeks back, Katy. Didn't get nearly as much publicity as his engagement though!
The Cardinals are playing here in Boston next weekend, and we were lucky enough to get tickets early. No doubt they're worth more than we paid now, with this apparently being the last tour.
