sounds like somebody's going to get a bad ebay review. BAD ebayer.
hen, don't worry about what someone thinks of you or your impressions of a book......that's the whole point of reading, lets you experience something out of your world. and when i say i can't understand how she feels, i'm not being judgemental, i'm being honest. it's a different experience than i've ever had. you are who you are.
but i honestly don't think you know what kind of a mother you will be until you hold that baby in your arms.

I hope not to ruin anything for those who haven't read it yet, but that part when she held the baby for the first time, I really felt what she was feeling. The whole scene where the baby fusses and won't take to her breast, but the husband is able to calm the baby and he is so peaceful in his arms, then back to mom and the wailing begins again. I really felt how she felt. I sympathised with that.
On a different scale, one of my kids adores his father and thinks all I speak is a bunch of nonsense. I've even called his dad to ask him to suggest or tell him something so that coming from his dad, he'd listen. It just touched a nerve for me seeing this little baby take to his father right from birth.

Mary I felt the same way at about 1/4 of the way in. But the more you read the more you are slowly able to sympathize. Maybe not identify, but I slowly started becoming more and more angry at that little shit and feeling for the mother. I want to discuss it more, but I want to wait until everyone is finished.
How about a roll call, who is done (copy and paste the list and add your name with D for done, R for reading and S for skipping out this time) then we know when we can start talking about it.

Mary I think I sent you a PM by accident sorry I have to say I felt differently about her after I finished the book. At first I was sympathetic but afterwards, I started thinking about her and of course it is all from her perspective and you hear his perspective more at the end and your opinion changes a bit.

DONE! So I have a question about the two surprises - I predicted the second one, but nothing before that was "surprising" to me? What are you referencing? (in the other thread, I think). PM, of course Am I just losing my mind? I finished it tonight and then had to leave my school's large, empty MultiPurpose room, a bit freaky!

Ok, so Liz and Hartleys are waiting on copies. Then we have Mary, Kez, Hen and Ange reading.
Anyone else reading or want us to wait for them? Depending on your schedules, it shouldn't take too long to read, it seems to be a quick reader for most as it is so engrossing.
Should we just wait until everyone chimes in as done, set a deadline or just start talking about it now in this thread or a separate thread marked Book Club discussion so that those who have not finished know not to go in? What does everyone think?

I don't know how I feel about a separate thread. I do know that I'm mad that my copy didn't have questions in the back like someone else mentioned (kez?)

Well we could always type out the questions? I'm nearly finished now again.
Its making me angry and frustrated all over again!! Why doesn't she just leave!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Feck knows where my copy is. Hopefully the pigeon hasn't been shot down by a wayward clay shooter......... If you guys are sick of waiting and want to start your reviews, I understand. I'll just avoid the thread!

I'm just at the start, though working my way through it. I like her writing style, not highly emotive, i can see where you could describe it as cold, however i do like how descriptive her writing is.
