I was a bit tentative about Into the Wild, but around 2/3 of the way in I decided that the overriding vibe I was getting from it (i.e. wanting to smash the lad's face in) wasn't actually negative. By the end I'd decided I liked it. I'd not mind seeing it again actually.
I was going to watch something off pay per view tonight but there are about 3 films on for some reason and they all look shite. Anyone seen Shine a Light, the Stones doc? Might go with that.

Limited.
Okay, well on my planner I have Superbad (girl from work recommended it, it looks shite to me) and Gangs of New York (been there ages and never felt like watching it). Then there's the option of paying for Wanted (no interest to be honest), Sex and the City (ditto), Adulthood (no clue whatsoever), Kung Foo Panda (yea right) or The Edge of Love, which has Keira Knightley in it so is firmly on the 'unlikely' pile. Or the Stones film, which is looking increasingly likely.

Good stuff. Just realised Superbad was done by the director of Knocked Up, so going to give it half an hour of my time before the sinister teacher film starts, and record the sinister teacher film if Superbad's any good. Sorted. Jesus this sort of thing is hard.

Haven't seen any of them to recommend but I have to say that we are in no rush to see Australia. I love Hugh Jackman but Nicole Kidman has always left me cold and I don't think she has any charisma or real acting ability at all. Never really one to go see these much raved about 'epics' anyway - the hype always puts me off. I'm one of the few people I know that has never seen Titanic............ I don't think I'm giving anything away by telling you it sank in the end. Oh, great, thanks a LOT Dave............no point in seeing it now...........

wanna join me in a never watching mamma mia pact? or has the ship sailed on that one? I'll join you in that one, Macca. The thought of having to watch it makes my blood run cold. My granny went to the karaoke showing in the Odeon 6 times I think I'd rather eat dog shit than sit in a cinema with a load of middle aged, squawking, half pissed women trying to sing along to crap songs.

I'm one of the few people I know that has never seen Titanic............ ive never seen it either, you're officially now the only other person i know who hasnt seen it wanna join me in a never watching mamma mia pact? or has the ship sailed on that one? I'm sorry to say that ship sailed but, if it saves my reputation any (ha, what reputation??), it was only because my sister bought the tickets to take our Mum along to 'cheer her up'. I had no say in the matter and I sincerely hope it did, because it gave me depression. Sorry Els and Tina but I LOATHED it. From the off tune renditions of the songs to the people singing along and clapping, yes, CLAPPING, at scenes in the cinema *shakes head* My Mum's only comment on the way home? 'Well, it was quite enjoyable but I did get sick of them breaking into song all the time.' Errrr...........Ma...........it was a musical

I thought Superbad would be like American Pie, which I've never seen admittedly. But it was like Ferris Bueller meets After Hours, yet degradingly entertaining, like Coyote Ugly was entertaining. But with more cock references.

Lots to comment on, but not enough time at the mo to hit it all. I will just say, Sean, that Pineapple Express was utter, utter shit. And I hope you decided to grab a pint or two with some friends down the local before firing up the DVD player, uuuuuuuuug! That ain't a couple hours of my life I'll ever have back. Apparently, that was Seth's idea from high school. That would have been better left in his past. *cries* On the docket for us shortly: Frost-Nixon (as a screener- DVD as the movie comes out from friends in the Producers' and Directors' Guilds, not in the theater) The Curious Case of Benjamin Button The Reader (screener) Milk Doubt (Not with the boys, buuuuuut:) Marly and Me Revolutionary Road (screener) And after a convo with the guy who scored the film and pulled some double-duty for months as editor on it, I've been, err, 'commanded' (har) tonight to see Valkyrie. Ugh. Blargh. :/ So, SO not wanting to see Cruise in this. Suckfest! I will be needing to report back, though- anyone wanna give me the Cliff Notes and serve as lamb to the slaughter??

That Benjamin Button film could go either way from what I can gather. On the one hand, Brad Pitt's easy on the eye and doesn't generally stick himself in dross. On the other, Forrest Gump comparisons. Hm.

Ben Buttons has gotten good reviews across the board here- good words for Pitt (who I don't personally care for, ha!) and for Fincher, who's working a bit outside his comfort zone this time. And the effects are rumored to be so good they'll set new standards... Tried to see it two days in a row now! It's three hours long, and we couldn't handle a 10:30 start time with a long commute home at night and hit some fairly ridonculous crowds today, eep. There's always next weekend...

Thought he was awesome in Zack and Miri and Knocked Up. I followed up Pineapple Express with Step Brothers - yep, I was in an 'inane comedy' mode last night. Also an Apatow production

I went to see Step Brothers in the cinema as I was particularly bored that day and needed a reason to get out of the house. I thought I would hate it but I actually found myself laughing out loud a few times. Its juvenile and silly but good fun.
Superbad I liked quite a bit. It had some great one liners ("No one's had a hand job in cargo pants since 'Nam") and sort of put the increasingly shite American Pie franchise to shame. It was clever and funny without any of the main characters really getting on your nerves too much.
I'm mildly curious about going to see The Reader. I read a recent interview with Kate Winslet and she was beyond irritating but she's one of those actresses who is pretty good at making you forget about her personality in real life whereas with someone like Jim Carrey you generally can't. She was great in the last film of her I saw, in Little Children so I'm wondering if she might be alright in this.
Mamma Mia and Sex and The City kind of passed me by. I doubt Mamma Mia would be my cuppa although SATC might as I can sit and watch the series and find it quite entertaining.
