So on 15th March after being at my job for 2 and a half years I got the old elbow. As a temp I'm not really supposed to work in a company for more than 10 months sand they've extended my contract many a time but I think they were getting nervous about me staying on so decided to call it a day adn given me a month's notice (which is pretty good seeing as I should only be on a week).
Anyway! It's good because I had been putting the feelers out and joined a few agencies and applied for a couple of jobs a few months ago as I haven't been happy here for a long long while. The first couple of days I was a bit upset (particularly when I was made to train in my replacement who I had no idea that they had hired, and who started the day after they told me my contract was ending).
I knew it wasn't forever so it's just given me the push I needed really, to put it all into perspective.
Have signed up with a few more agencies and have been put forward for a temping job with one of the agencies that looks verrrry interesting but no idea if they'll like my CV, I'll just have to wait and see.
Initially I think I'll be looking for a temporary role until I'm safely secure earning money again and go on the look for something permanent.
Tell you what though, I fuckin HATE interviews. It's all in your CV you just have to sell yourself is what they say. That's the problem!!

I'm sure you'll find something else soon, Kez - fingers crossed! But christ yes interviews are horrible. I'm always afraid I'll say something completely ridiculous (which will happen if you, like me, forget to think before you speak.)

Kez, I'm sure you will get snapped up soon enough. Having just had the gf go through it for 7 weeks, I know what you are saying. Just go in and knock them all dead (no, not literally Hen ) and you will be employed before you know it.

Kez, you are very likeable and charming so I am sure you will be fine in interviews Now I'm concentrating on weddings, I have to have 'client consultations' regularly which are just like bloody interviews, they're horrible!

Thank lads. It's amazing how comfortable you get somewhere even if you don't enjoy it that much. Have got an interview Tuesday and the job sounds really interesting. It's temporary but that will do for now! Meeting the Head & Deputy Head of General Counsel, arrrrrrgh. I haven't done an interview in sooooo long I'm so bricking it. I turn into a freak in these situations. Sweat, stammer, nervous giggle, rambling - the works. One of the Directors here has said she'll sit me down and prep me for an interview which was really sound of her. I think about 4 valium might be quite helpful myself Seriously any tips would be welcome!

Take a xanax or a stiff vodka before the interview, just to take the nerves away.

The only thing about her company is that it is mostly based on internships so you work for either little or no money. I did try and go for a few music industry jobs a coupla years ago but it is very competitive and quite tough. Anyhooooo Just out of interview! Thanks for all the help, it actually went fine. He talked for aaaaaaaaaaaaages which helped put me at ease and as he was talking I was thinking of things I could say in relation to what he was talking about. He did mention that he thought it might be more of a junior role than I was used to but I said that I didn't mind that as it looked like a fabulous opportunity. So alls I gotta do is sit and wait. He said they would be making a decision by the end of the week

Nuffink! News by the end of today at the latest they said.
For someone who is so impatient it's like torture! Anyways, have put my CV forward for a few other roles which look quite interesting in the meantime. I'm treating it like I haven't got it as it's the only way to not drive myself demented.

How annoying . I interviewed for a position the day before my stroke thing happened , in fact at the Library typed a thank you for the interview email. And they never even replied to say thanks but we are hiring someone else . Etc. Wankers.

Cheers ladies. Well interview went ok-ish today. Think they'd already made a decision about a candidate as I didn't meet the Heads of Department as I originally was supposed to but the PA to the Global Head. She sorta whizzed through the job spec and I ended up having to ask lots of questions and trying to relate it to what I have done in the past and what I do now. Asked lots of questions about how the company worked (I knew the number of people who worked in her office while she didn't seem to know ). So either she was pissed off she had to interview someone or was just going through the motions because they'd already decided on someone cos she didn't really sell the company or enthuse about it much or really explain the role that well or ask any questions. But that's fine, if they've found someone they think is right for the role you can't complain really. Anyways. Getting a bit anxious now as I have under a week left here at work. Am fretting quite a bit moneywise as my last pay check is on the 19th and have nothing after that. last week at work it got to me quite a bit, people piling on work and I still didn't have a job and was very aware of stressing about work then not having time to look for jobs. One Director sent me a sarcastic email about me putting a meeting in his diary when he was on holiday and I was thinking "well please think of me when you're on holiday in the Maldives cos I'll be signing on for £35 a week." Spent a lot of lunchtimes sitting down having a bit of a cry then heading back up and getting on with it. Boyfriend has been fab about it all, very positive and supportive and telling me not to worry. I just keep thinking I've got my rent to pay on the 19th then my loan on the 5th after that and it's a huge amount of money pay out when you don't have a job. Anyways hopefully something will turn up....

Oh kez I know the feeling you have, I have been there and am still there on fact! Waiting for social security disability to be approved so I can go back to ny And have some money to live on. It's taking forever for them to respond and chances are I will be denied and then have to file an appeal with the help of a lawyer. In the meantime I have no income and my ma is paying all my bills! It's so embarrassing.
Well good luck on the next interview, over here they keep saying the job market is picking up.

Cheers Karen. Realised today I'll have to apply for housing benefit next week and my landlady is doing a dodgy thing where she's registered as living at our property but we aren't so the council tax isn't more.
We found this out when we tried to arrange to vote in the UK parliamentary elections. She said we could vote but that our council tax would go up if we did as we would then have 4 people registered as living in the property (her, her daughter, me and my flatmate). Ridiculous. So now I'm wondering what she's going to say now that I'm going to have to claim housing benefit. I would have to be registered as living at the address if I was claiming housing benefit. Fucking mess.
Why wouldn't they not approve your disability benefit? That's terrible.
