lol lise. Am under no illusions about the difficulties of having kids, I realise it isn't an easy task. I've seen my brother have 3 and I love them to bits, and I was 13 when my sister was born so ended up doing serious amounts of nappy changing and baby sitting (not the same I know!) I definitely know that I would like to have my own now. I wasn't ready in any of my last relationships and I know I didn't feel remotely the way I feel now. Rob feels the same and we've been talking about it for well over a year now. We went to his cousin's daughters first birthday a year last November and we walked out of the house and he said "well hopefully that will be us one day" and I was so glad he said I cos that was exactly how I was feeling. I know it's not easy and I know it's to going to be really tough but time is seriously ticking on for both of us . I'm 35 in Jan and he's 39 in April. And anyway, Rob hates cats

It could be Liam Gallagher and that Appleton (are they still together?) or Jude Law and his mob. How exciting are you gonna apply for it???

Liam Gallagher is still with Nicole Appleton, but as far as I know, they usually visit Italy, not France.
Interesting job though!

YES I KNOW. Well, I have an Oasis news site in my google reader, so it pretty much pulls up anything that they do. Though I tend to skim more often with Liam news compared to Noel.
And here's hoping for Jude Law! My mom saw him in Hamlet when they brought it to Broadway, and every time here lately when the new Sherlock movie preview comes on the TV, she goes, "I've been in the same room as him! He was right. there." haha

Hmmmmm dilemma...once again the temporary jobs seem to be the only ones available. A very kind colleague recommended me to a friend of hers in another department who is looking for a PA. I met with her today and she spoke about the role which sounds good. Some pros and cons to it but aint that the way. She's pretty much offered it to me on the proviso I come down first and look around and meet people and has also suggested me to other departments who have yet to get back to me. As I've always been whingeing on, I'm desperate for a permanent job but have rung round the agencies today and nothing going on. Agencies said it would pick up by end of Jan. My boss is leaving in a matter of weeks, he's going to Hong Kong, and as a man in the know about the workings of the bank has basically told me to "grab what I can." Pretty sound advice! The woman I met with today also said that most people who go into this department end up going permanent within a year but I've heard that before. I think in this day and age, working as a contractor seems to be fairly standard, most people in this company are contractors and paid pretty well. Taking into account our future plans, I would rather a permanent job but then doing my research I would be eligible for maternity pay as long as I've been working in a company (or with an agency) for 26 weeks. I'm well over that now. Seems that most permanent jobs require 2 or 3 rounds of interviews with heavy competition. I think I'm looking at at least 8-12 weeks at the very least before I find something permanent. Obviously I can't really afford to turn anything down and am leaning towards taking this temporary role as it would be a lot of pressure off and at least it gives me breathing space to look elsewhere if I still want to. Head's in a bit of a spin today....just thinking out loud I guess. Any helpful advice would be great

Take it, Kez. Job market's awful, I believe and you want to keep your salary coming in so there aren't any breaks which might affect your maternity pay...

Yeah I say go for it too, Kez; you never know, it might end up being a permanent job. And if not, it's experience and that's never a bad thing.
Yesterday I applied for a job that seems PERFECT for me, I'm praying I at least get an interview. Not overly optimistic, though, like you said Kez, heavy competition these days. But cross your fingers, people. Do it, do it now *whip*

Take it, Kez. Job market's awful, I believe and you want to keep your salary coming in so there aren't any breaks which might affect your maternity pay... I think that's the clincher isn't it. The worst case scenario would be coming to the end of this assignment with no permanent job offers OR temp offers! You're right, job market is shite. You start to pick up on the jargon the agencies come out with. When I asked what the market was like the agency said "picking up" which I presume means slow lol. I guess I can still keep an eye out for permanency... Yeah I say go for it too, Kez; you never know, it might end up being a permanent job. And if not, it's experience and that's never a bad thing. The interview went really well, I thought ;D he seems like a decent guy and he is such a talented graphic designer, if I get the job I'll learn from one of the best for sure. And the job sounds so awesome. Awe. Some. The good news is I'm up against only two others, so I have a real chance.

Great news Hen!!! Keeping everything crossed for you. And Kez, take the job, you can always keep looking on the side, but a job is a job these days. I had a great week too. I went to meet with someone on Monday who said he would circulate my resume around the port area (work int he yachting industry which is the main thing going on here in Viareggio) He said that the fact that I was mother tongue English was a huge plus for me, so I am hoping something pans out. Then, I got a call from one of the agencies I have my resume in with. I went to interview with them for a "very boring job" as they called it and kept repeating over and over. They kept saying, but you have so much experience, this is very boring, are you ok with that? I said "if it pays, I am TOTALLY ok with that" It is data entry and nothing more. They are looking for someone who has experience and is fast not he computer (surprisingly this is actually RARE in Italy) and someone with excellent English. ME! It is ME! I am fast with computers and know English better than any Italian! So we will see. I feel hopeful, but am trying not to get too excited.

Do you know that every single time I type "on the" I always, always, always end up typing "not he" instead. Every single time. It is my standard typing error. "on" backwards and then "the" with a space between the "t" and "he" weird. See it up there ^ Every single time. I catch it most of the time, but not always.

It was so crowded in there we were practically leaning on each other. Who was the band....Travis. God my mind is going to pot! I really had to think about that for a minute! I didn't turn to my left to see who I was pressing against until the very last song!
